My name is Diana and I’m well known as my childhood nickname “China”. As long as I can remember I’ve had an entrepreneur mentality from selling fresh lemonade to hair barrettes (so my mother wouldn’t do my hair at 11 yrs old lol) to my printing company then my event planning company and now seafood. I’ve realized that my real passion is cooking and so El Mar Seafood was born [during this 2020 pandemic].

I am a proud daughter of immigrant parents, they have always worked and still continue to do so. I developed a love for cooking when I was 11 and began cooking small plates for my parents as I grew older to show them my love & appreciation for their hard work. My motivation stems from watching my mother and father come home tired daily to cook late evening, even if it meant taking turns with sore feet. I did what I could from small things like cleaning to cooking small meals or snacks, quesadillas, flautas and soups. My dream is to encourage my daughter to be a strong independent woman by example – so I give everything I do my best!

I like to travel and try different foods. Most importantly I’ve fallen in love with southern cooking – specially Louisianan cuisine. I was raised cooking Mexican food and seafood is always a delight (we are surrounded by 2 coasts with incredible seafood on each end). With El Mar Seafood, I decided to mix west coast California Mexican style of seafood with the Louisiana seafood flavor and dishes. We officially launched mid covid-19 pandemic because I couldn’t wait any longer to get behind the stove and create mouth lusciousness in a plate. So we are growing and people seem to love my seafood – marisco delights.
